The Girls Get Mail

Not often do we get personal mail anymore… and when we do it comes for the dogs!!!! it was a parcel from our Shiloh’s American blue sister Darwin!!! Yep she was ‘Pawing It Foward’ and the girls were the lucky ones.

I hardly had a look in.. the parcel squeaked and the girls took off around the house with the parcel, I was lucky to be able to grab it and save Darwins letter!. Little bit soggy but readable. The tug toy with the ball is brilliant. Its a long rope with a ball in the middle & Chelsea soon took that as hers. Its extremely well made and up to Dane usage which makes sense as it comes from and organisation called ‘Rescue Me Tugz‘ who donate the money from their tugs, collars etc to Dane rescue organisations in the US.. go check them out… I will definitely be shopping there.

Shiloh wasnt being left out and the rubber chicken..was hers. She bought it to the kitchen and curled up with it. No way was Chelsea getting a look in. I laughed last night as I tried to sleep, there was a loud squeak and the chicken had been buried in my bed :)

While the girls played I read Darwins letter to them… the last paragraph had me crying…

I’m sorry to hear about Shy’s eye. We wanted to give something to help go toward the cost of her surgery. I wanted to do something for her and you, after all thats what ‘Paw it Forward’ is about? Isnt it’

Gees Brooke, you are one amazing chick to help out a stranger like that….Gabrielle made me laugh when she said Americans spell funny (ie Check instead of Cheque) That was one of the most selfless gestures Ive witnessed.. thank you …x

If you click the bottom pic you can see Shys eyes (I left out the worst ones) they are most sore in the evening & Ive been bathing them in a warm saline solution. I talked to the vet and should be able to get her in for the initial operation mid December. Ive noticed she seems to bark more and often at the slightest thing and I think thats because she cant see as well as Chels…

    Yea for paw it forward fun! Those definitely look like Dane approved toys ;-) so sorry to hear about eye troubles though. I must have missed the details of it but then I am a bit behind on my reading! Hope she is not too bad off while waiting for surgery.

    Ugh, vets! I just told ours this past weekend that I was going to have to start having 1/2 of my paycheck direct deposited to him & the other half to Walmart (to pay for groceries & the cleaning solution we use to clean the carpets everytime the dogs get sick). After having 3 sick danes and 2 of them also injured in the past 6 weeks, now we also have a cat that has hyperthyroid and has to be on medication. When does it ever end???
    I hope things go well with Shilo. That was very generous of Darwin.

    Hi Abby - paw it forward is indeed a wonderful concept and we’re constantly blown away by how selfless it is. Whoever came up with the idea of ‘paw it forward’ should get a medal!

    Like Moose we’re a bit behind with our reading so we didn’t realise about Shy’s eyes - we hope everything goes well.

    Poor baby, her eyes look so sad :sad: That must be so hard for you to see her like that.

    Wow, I just checked out the Rescue me Tugz website. We will DEFINITELY be ordering things from them!!!! Thanks for telling us about them!

    Aw, poor Shiloh! Hope she isn’t feeling too poorly - is there something you could give her just to relieve the symptoms, until the op? (aside from the saline, I mean)

    By the way, is Darwin really Shiloh’s litter sister?!

    Oh no … i clicked on the pic, saw the eye and almost cried :( :( :( I hope you canget her into surgery soon, and it gives her some relief once it’s done!! Poor Shiloh!

    Cool…Darwin lives kind of close to me. :) How fun that she sent you a package and what a sweet thing it sounds like her Mom did. :)

    Looks like they had an absolute ball opening the mail. I didn’t think anyone enjoyed getting mail than my one year old human baby but your puppies might give him a run for his money :grin:
